This actually does not work for electric networks because they can intersect one another without connecting.
Intersections are rare enough. It even more rare to have many networks overlaying each other. And if a player intentionally has too many electrical networks overlaying each other for the amount of colors available then it his/her own fault.

So we can't have QoL changes because someone might make a false bug report?
I don't decide what's happening in Factorio development in any way. Criticizing a suggestion is not fighting the suggestion, it's helping.

Some question: does that involve also networks that are split by power switch?

If yes: no way, it will be a total mess of different colors on some map, because the player uses extensively switched networks.

If no: why do we need that? On the map view I can clearly see, if something is connected or not. Someone might explain it to me.

More points: it will look not so nice. An esthetical argument... but I think this is relevant. And it is complicated to implement, and eats some extra cpu cycles for drawing.

[ick] Merged three topics about different map colors for disconnected power grids.

I’m very sure this will not come. This would mean to have different colors for the same entities. And on map it wouldn’t look nice. Indeed it would look much more like a big mess.

What I can think for - and is much more user-friendly in my eyes - if you hover an electric network, that it is highlighted. Similar to how resources are highlighted.
