I want to have a fish pond.

Sounds like something that would be fun as a creative/cheat mode easter egg. (Fun? You think this is some kind of GAME?)

• Fill Barreled Fish Barrel: 50 fish + 1 water barrel -> Barreled Fish Barrel
• Unbarrel Barreled Fish Barrel: 1 Fish Barrel -> Empty Barrel + 50 Fishwater
• Storage tanks have new Fishwater containing state that changes the artwork into a open top fishtank. More fishwater will cause more fish particles via the particle system to be launched, this will cause the fishtank to slowly deplete since fish are temporary, but the factory is forever.

Admit it - you just want to barrel the fish so you can place them in the world and delete them by gunfire. You just want to shoot fish in that barrel!

Fish are temporary, but they can have babies. I wonder if biters like eating fish.

But you literally still can't, by hand you eat them, by inserter it doesn't do anything...
(I checked out of curiosity)
So it's not implemented

Not if you put them back in. I want to put them back in.

But only if you quickly put them back in. The game can’t track how long they’ve been out, so it just classifies them as dead (“raw” fish). And they can’t breed, so you’d have to do everything manually.

There is a mod that allows this, though.

The true beauty is in a working factory WITH a fish pond. The expansion is probably all about fish ponds. It's the obvious next move.
