Request : Improve file management with directories

TL;DR
Let me use directories in the load/save menu to save scolling down my files and losing sight of my savegames in the flood.
What ?
I often save my games and while most of my saves are superflous Murphys Law very clearly states that if I don't save a game in such a manner I will want the save that I didn't make. So I save.. a lot.
This makes the save game file list in my loading menu annoyingly long. I could make directories, but I can't see them in the loading menu so there's no point. Please make it so I can access different subdirectories in the main save directory to load and save games - being able to make directories in the menu would be nice too but it is not necessary as far as I am concerned as it is convenient enough to use the OS to make them. But using the the OS to shuffle files around is much less convenient.
Why ?
This will make playing multiple modded games less annoying and improve the user rep for Factorio in this regard - Win more with more ecstatic users

When I create directories in the saves folder, they do appear in the loading menu :

Or did I misunderstood your post ?

Hmm, you did not misunderstand....as for me, well....
Before I posted I did a check to make sure and I did have 2 directories already in the save directory, and they did not show up in the menu in-game. They were unzipped game saves I got from the internet. I probably unzipped them figuring out how to work the import process.
In response to your note above I just made a new directory and it does indeed show up !!!
So I got spoofed by the other two directories, I guess that the game knows what an unzipped game save directory looks like and does not present it as a directory in the load menu.
So, thanks for the fastest dev update ever and ... whoops
Tree structure for savegames

What ?
Ability to group savegames in groups, folders or a tree like structure.
Why ?
With increasing amount of savegames it gets harder and harder to search for the correct save. I like the idea of the blueprint book to group several blueprints of the same context. For the savegames I think it would be very nice to get a tree structure for the savegame dialog to group them accordingly.
Example
Code: Select all
.
├── Space Exploration
│ ├── A
│ └── B
├── Krastorio 2
│ ├── A
│ └── B
├── Vanilla
│ └── Freeplay
│ ├── Belt-Base
│ ├── Spaghetti-Base
│ └── 3kSpm-Test
└── Test-Maps
├── Oil
└── Rocket Fuel

But how this should look in the game interface?
The most simple is to allow user to enter '/' in the name of a savegame in the save screen.

It's already possible, if you create subfolders in your save game folder
https://wiki.factorio.com/Application_d ... _directory
the folder cannot be created in-game, though

But a more user friendly way would be very nice

Personally, I imagine something like this... In general like a folder/file structure in windows explorer.
