[0.17.59] Placing upgrade planner in blueprint doesn't upgrade icons

Not really a bug, but not really a feature request either. So just gonna leave it here.

If you drag an upgrade planner into the little box in the blueprint window that opens when you right-click a blueprint, it upgrades the contents of the blueprint but not its icon(s).

Agreed it's more of feature request rather than bug. And we are still debating if it should be implemented or not, due to blueprint icons being possibly completely custom, so doing direct upgrade on them automatically might not make sense.

Moved to Ideas and Suggestions so it doesn't block stable release.

I haven't really worked with upgrade planners, so I'm not sure what the up or downsides are, but maybe it makes sense mostly for default upgrade paths and/or default generated icon sets.

Wouldn’t it be practical for most cases to also upgrade the icons, like belts or assemblers? To prevent messing up custom chosen icons, the upgrade planner by default could update icons accordingly to the upgrade of entities. For example no Inserter upgrade defined, therefore the inserter icons in any upgraded blueprint are left untouched. Alternatively what about a checkbox in the upgrade planner to not change any blueprint icons. This should take care of most situations and make direct player intervention rather seldom not the norm, like upgrading icons is currently the case.
