Colorful labs

Post by Mathematician »

TL;DR
Change working lab color based on researched science tier.
What ?
When starting NPE tutorial we have this new lab for our research:

At first I though it was a suprise from developers unmentioned in any FFF. :o
I expected to later in game see labs changing colors to:
-green, when researching something that requires logistics SP,
-blue, when researching something that requires chemical SP,
-and so on...
But it seems like that lab was just a special type for the purpose of the tutorial.

So the idea is to actually use the logic I expected.
Why ?
-More variety in lab look throughout the game advance. Less weariness with the same graphic from the start to post-rocket game.
-Better player immersion (no GUI required to determine level of curr. research advancement - you can just look at the labs itself and get an idea of how advanced the researched tech is)
-It looks cool.

I'm not sure if someone was inspired by this topic or get the idea independently, but here it is: Disco Sciecne.
Just leaving message here if someone happens to search the Ideas forum (not mods) for this.

Someone was inspired by the tutorial and not this thread. He obviously (after reviewing the evidence) didn't see this thread.

Looks like a burner lab and a burner assembling machine, thus the funky colours.
