show range of ghost builds

Post by nosports »

TL;DR
Show cargo/construction-range of Roboports also while in 'planing'-state (ghost)

What ?
For an existing Roboport the ghost of the range of the bots is shown, this is also true when planing and planting roboports and blueprints, but after placing the blueprint the range-color disapear.
The range should also be visible while the roboport is still in ghost-state awaiting delivery of the roboport....
Why ?
when expanding roboport area the placing of roboports will be faster due to visible ranges

Roboport coverage from blueprints visible in map view

Post by joshinils »

When placing a roboport ghost of a blueprint that contains roboports it would be nice to see the colored ranges. (same with turrets or radars)

This would be helpful when placing large blueprints from map-view.

Well, the suggestion mine was merged with is somewhat different.
I specifically mean holding a blueprint in the newly added map-view. In the map-view the ranges are not visible, whereas on nauvis they are.

Regarding nosports' suggestion with 1.0.0 in mind:
For ghosts placed in the world the ranges are neither visible on nauvis nor in the map-view.
And personally I think that would confuse me too much if they were shown with the same colour and/or opacity as from non-ghosts.
