Logistic signals through radars

Hi, I don't know if this topic has been suggested before, I tried finding something related about but didn't find anything (perhaps didn't search enough).

Anyway, this suggestion comes from a situation that I had with my base, where I have a big train station were I keep several trains waiting for a signal, the problem is that signal comes from very far away in an iron mine, where is if have enough resources and there is no train present at it's station it sends the signal that I require. I know that I can place electric towers with logistic wires from the mine to the station, but I got two problems there, first I could alter other logistic networks with the wires (if I want to take advantage of the towers already built), and second, it will require tons of towers and logistic wires to put another logistic network with another infrastructure.

My suggestion is, I don't know how feasible it would be take advantage of radars sending signals, I could put one radar per mine, and other in the train station and I could read the signals and know when a train needs to be sent and to which iron mine too.

Of course, the radar must be powered always to send and receive signals, and perhaps the radars could have two working modes available but only one selected and working at time, one as a radar and other as signal receiver/transmitter.

Or in a better choice another item that works like signal receiver/transmitter (I tried to find a mod that could give me this functionality, but I didn't find anything)

This is only a suggestion... Factorio is my favorite game, and one thing that I like from it is the challenge to resolve problems like these, I don't like the mods that facilitate the game to much, instead I like when they add realism and difficult to the game. I like when pros comes accompanied with cons. So if nothing could be done about this there will be no problem, I'll manage, is just a suggestion like I said before.

Many thanks for the listening, and hope something come out from this.
Regards,
Jonathan Ayala

I assume that with "logistic networks" and "logistic wires" you mean "circuit networks" and "circuit wires", so that you are talking about connecting circuit networks and not logistic networks.

Connecting circuit networks over large distances using wireless connections has already been suggested in the following threads:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=49317 Radio Links for signals transmission
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=47429 global circuit network
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51628 Radio Signal Tower

These threads also contain links to further threads in which it has been discussed. They also contain links to at least two mods which implement the suggestion. I haven't tested the mods, though, so I can't tell you if they are any good.

I like the idea, and would also like to see wireless networks for the same reasons you described.

In the meantime, there is an (unofficial) way to transmit signals wirelessly by exploiting enabled station detection via far away trains.

A while ago I had secretly been working on a mod that does exactly this, but couldn't think of a way to do this without significant slowdown due to scripting. Than again my approach really wasn't pretty so I discontinued it...

I might tackle this again, having some more experience and a few fresh ideas.
