Alternatives to biters/worms

Different maps could have different monsters, or the same maps have multiple kinds of monsters (or even non-hostile npcs)

Some monster ideas:
Human population/cities
1) Instead of destroying your buildings they bring them back to their city/home
2) Can use guns/gain in technology
3) Might be protected by turrets

Zombies:
1) slow moving
2) large numbers
3) resilient
4) infects human population/cities (if available)

Evil Cyborgs:
1) Fairly fast
2) Can be resilient
3) Drops cool technology perhaps used for research
4) Drains your energy instead of damaging your buildings
5) Could lead to more fun later technology like EMPs that damage them

Intelligent Aliens
1) Psionic powers that hurt player more than buildings
2) Builds defense outposts with alien turrets (that you can steal?)
3) Will use their turrets offensively against your jerkface pollution making factory cuz they hate you.
