Assembling Machines Productivity Bonus Research

Post by Alyssa »

TL;DR
Having an infinite(or not)productivity bonus research for assembling machines.
What ?
Something very similar to current mining productivity research, with the difference that there would be 1% productivity bonus instead of 2%,and it may either be capped at 100% productivity bonus or be infinite like the current mining productivity research.
Why ?
Would give players more to do in the endgame, I guess?

I'm afraid the combined productivity from :
1) mining drills
2) assembling machines
3) level 3 modules

... would become excessive when stacked.

I agree. It would be practically impossible to prevent this from being OP. It would also break somme ratios and setups, which would be annoying.
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

Well it wouldn't really break setups, they would continue working, but they would no longer be perfect ratios. Some setups that aren't ratio perfect might even become more attractive (eg.1:1 copper wire to green circuits with +40 prod bonus). I do agree that infinite productivity research for assemblers could easily become overpowered. You would probably need to make it get really expensive really fast. Perhaps similar to Robot worker speed.

Does this also apply to chemical plants? Oil refineries? It cannot apply to centrifuges because Kovarex Enrichment + productivity is OP.

Mining drill productivity was a clean feature, there was no ambiguity about what buildings it applied to, and it solved the endgame problem of having to spend so much time expanding to get new resource patches.

Or barrel filling and emptying. Anything not accepting productivity modules should not benefit from the research.
