Maybe add an higher priority logistic provider chest for storage areas. That robots take the items from there and not from another location.

Or add to chest option to set priority number. Higher number = higher priority and zero is passive.

Totally suppor this. But the issue that arrives then: what if the robots have 2 chests with plates: one with priority 1 and is 10 feet away, and another with priority 10 that's 1000ft away, what it should do?

It should take from chest with higher priority. It's player job to set things right.

Well then priority systems loses reason to me in that point. I'd prefer to transfer over train or belts if things are really far away, but hey, that's me.
