[0.15.12] Construction robots should grab first, then go

When using a personal roboport, the construction robots should bring the item they need when lifting off, instead of lifting off first and then trying to catch up with the player to take the item.

You mean this:
- Robots come out of roboport
- Then they are taking the item out of the players inventory
?
As that is as it currently is (the robots are in the players inventory) I would like that, cause it makes a lot of sense logically.
I see that differently, if the robots of personal roboport are in an extra slot. See latest FFF-191 which goes a bit into that direction.

He means when you move towards a blueprint with a Personal Roboport active, your robots will first fly out of your inventory and follow you with no items held and then have to catch up to you or you must stop to let them catch up to you so they can remove items from your inventory to then go build. They should take the items with them as they leave the first time.

Agreed, I wish this could be solved.
When speeding down a track in a train or running too fast for personal robots to do this and they end up trailing behind forcing you to stop and let them grab their items so they can continue to whatever task with it. Really annoying.
A robot and the item it would use is in the same inventory, why leave and then return for something that was where the robot started in the first place???

Same applies on return: robots currently drop items on the player, move away a little to recharge, then move back to land.
Really they should just land immediately, unloading items as they do so, and charging after landing. (This would also solve the "bug" that "mining" robots stops them from sapping your suit power.)

I've always had the sense that they are meant to charge first.. but if you manually collect bots in flight and either hold onto them or put them in a roboport, they are always auto charged the next time they exit for a task. Perhaps this is a flaw in the game - and that it should maintain the charged status of a bot even within the robotport/player inventory... but for functionality sake, it would be much more convenient if bots (especially ones connected to the player) *were able to charge within the inventory*

Update: Oddly enough it seems like they do grab repair kits before leaving, but nothing else.
Multiple tests of running towards damaged objects show this is the case.

Robots should charge, pick up and deliver items while "inside the roboport" not floating around. Also, they should be blocked from launching if you are currently moving faster than they can move.
Why? Because as someone very well described it in another thread, it is "well beyond stupid" for robots to launch to do work when you are zooming past in a train or even walking fast and thus get left behind. The same applies to charging or getting items.
