Hi,
the setting "enable experimental updates" is not set when you download an experimental Version (f.e. as zip). So when I read that there is a new Version out, I go into my game About->CheckForUpdates and got "No Updates availiable".

So I've two suggestions:

• Enable Experimental Updates by default for experimental Versions
• Give a hint when you manually (About -> Check for Upadtes) check for updates (without experimenatls enabled) and there is a new experimental availiable. (f.e. No new stable Version availiable.\n There is a new experimenatal Version availiable, enable experimental updates to get it.)

Searched for threads like this because I, too, would like to suggest that experimental builds come with experimental updates enabled by default. The hint that a new experimental release is available if no newer stable release exists would be a nice touch, but mostly I'm here because downloading a standalone experimental release is a pretty strong indicator that I as a user am interested in experimental updates, and having to manually enable that setting anyway shouldn't be necessary from a UX perspective.

I'm constantly downloading experimental zips for different mods, tinkering, and servers. This would be great because I sometimes forget to autoupdate them

I'm torn between this. but basically....
I don't really mind if it tells me about experimental updates or not when I have updates turned on, but experimental updates turned off.

As long as if I have updates turned off all together, it tells me nothing.

In case you want to ask why I have them turned off... As a modder, I keep quite a few old versions around for reference material, and older graphical assets. sometimes I do actually run the game in that old version, and obviously have updates turned off.

I doubt that it is so useful, cause we will not have so many experimental versions left before release.
