The effect of the atomic bomb on biters is spectacular. The visual effect is decidedly less so. Nuking things would be a lot more fun, I think, if an atomic bomb going off anywhere on-screen caused the display to flash white and fade over a couple seconds, and was followed by a mushroom cloud slowly rising over ground zero.

Something like this.

With little clouds that linger in the area for ~30 mins, and have them damage anything in them =D

Yeah, the animation is quite okay, but lacks some kind of "This is a nuke!!!" message. How about the typical double flash? Fast white screen in the first milli seconds, then white again for the next second. See this article for an explanation and an example video.
