Portable Fission Reactor

The portable fusion reactor should be renamed and require Uranium-235 to build.

Or, it should require Uranium 235 to run. That would be more fun. Either you spend nuclear fuel for your power, or you limit yourself to solar panels. XD
Would make it somewhat less of a. "Once you have a fusion reactor, you can drop all the Solar Panels" thing.

I like the idea. Perhaps also a few less processing units as well.
Changing the graphic could also be an option. Perhaps something in between the old and new graphic.. Maybe something like a greenish doughnut

Ah, A Tokamak. What fun.
Thinking a Reactor, 10 heat pipes, 2 Turbines, and 100 processing units.
Ignore the issues with fitting that into your armor, physical size has little impact in this game.

I agree with this suggestion. The portable fusion reactors are very powerful compared to the portable solar panels and therefore it does not make sense that they do not cost any fuel to use or at least to build.

In my Modular Armor mod I am now using Nuclear Fuel, at a 5% efficiency. Otherwise a single fuel would last a full 2 and a half hours. Now it lasts 7 minutes. Still very useful, but not trivial.
If you don't cut the efficiency however, you might as well not make it fueled, and just use the nuclear fuel to craft it.

I came to the forum to suggest exactly the same thing, but DaveMcW beat me to it. It never made sense to have one type of power available for armor but not for the factory.
(Although I suppose by that logic we should also have portable coal fired boilers.)

[Edit] And yea, a fuel based power generator for your power armor would be nice. Garbage disposal of wood while clearing forests -and- recharge your Lumberjackbots? Yesplease.
[Edit2] That fuel based generator should make your character emit a bit of smoke. I would have some suggestions on where to put the smoke emitter but they are too silly to post.

Wonderful. I just thought of this myself, and was planning to create a suggestion myself. I think it would be more thematically appropriate to call it RTG and have folded into the nuclear tech.

Sure, an RTG would be fine. But it's totally within the theme of the game to have a light water reactor in a backpack.
