Energy transportation is not free.

Why computing electricity every tick?
There is no need to trace every unit of electricity.
Just make computation when connecting/disconnecting poles and power consumers.

And computing electricity every tick is needed, cause at every tick the enemies can come and the lasers will fire and knock out the satisfaction of your electric network. Or the coal can go out and your factory goes dark in the middle of the night.
