To me, provider chest names were quite unintuitive and confusing. Even after I learned the difference between them I kinda went, 'yeah I suppose that makes sense'.
My suggestion is to rename the Active Provider Chest to something more descriptive. Examples:

• Depleting Chest
  Barren Chest
  Devoid Chest
  Evade/Evading Chest
  Vacant Chest
  Expel/Expelling Chest

When the APC is renamed we could just use Provider Chest for the Passive. Or perhaps Supplier Chest? I donno, nothing wrong with just Provider Chest.
What do you think? Please share your thoughts and name alternatives.

The names are not at all intuitive and I usually have to resort to "the purple chest does" kind of explanations when telling a friend about the logistic network.
Requester and Storage are fine.
Red could keep the Provider name.

Purple should get a name that reflects the logistic system's intent to empty it as quickly as possible.

Flushing Chest comes to mind.

I also had the problem that I had no idea what active provider chests were, when I started playing Factorio. However, I had a lot more trouble understanding the basics of circuit networks.

Therefore, I believe the solution to the problem should rather be to expand the tutorial to include things such as logistic and circuit networks, instead of attempting to give entities simpler names.

The idea of extra tutorials or mini-tutorials has already been discussed in this thread and also in Factorio Friday Facts #178.
