Bullet overhaul proposal

(i am new to the forums but not to factorio)

Personally i like using bullet based weapons. In my main save i used them as the primary defense. But currently they have prohibetive cost issues as discussed here: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =16&t=3950 . The changes that i would suggest:

Make the current piercing ammo 5 times cheaper: 5 units after one cycle instead of one or increase the mag size by 5 times for a total of 50 bullets (i prefer the last option).

Ad an advanced machine gun with a 30% damage bonus (this should be a huge change if you take the Resistance of big biters in account).

A fully upgraded gun turrets with piercing ammo actually does twice as much damage as a fully upgraded laser turret (against a big biters). So damage wise there is no problem in the end game. Mid game it is almost impossible to kill big biters with gun turrets. Again i would suggest a tier 2 turret with a 30% damage bonus. This turret could take 4 tiles instead of the usual 2. Furthermore it would be nice if these turrets could be auto loaded with the logistics network.

I think these changes would reintroduce the gun turret as a good late game base defense option were you trade resources for a defense that does not fail if the power fails (which should be very powerful if biters start attacking power poles). It also introduces extra logistics which i think fits the factorio spirit.

I did not post this in the topic mentioned above because i am suggesting a lot of other changes compared to just the cost reduction for piercing ammo.

Well, this is not balancing, it's suggesting and I'll move it there.

To the gun turret: That has been suggested some times and I'm nearly sure to say, that the current nerve for gun-turrets is wanted by the devs for reasons of balancing. :)
