Map Exchange String

Post by Tenebrous »

It's not entirely obvious how this works, and you can't get the string whilst in a game, so I suggest improving the interface to this somewhat.
  • Provide a 'copy' button in the existing Map Exchange string pop-up so you don't have to manually select and CTRL+C the text - it's a little bit fiddly on high resolution.
  • For completeness also have a 'paste' button
  • Provide a 'copy map exchange string' button in the ESC menu whilst playing
It does not make sense for the map exchange strings to be actual fully-editable text boxes. When will someone EVER want to manually type it in, or edit parts of it?

It's super confusing indeed. And you can type something like "bear" in the exchange string and it'll work just fine, but you have no idea wtf happened and what kind of settings the game just started with.

It doesn't?
What If I want to type some text into the string, as minecraft allows?
(Like, "PleaseNotATinyIslandAgain" :P)

According to my observations the map exchange string is useless atm.

But the random seed seems to work.

Because it doesn't work like that, it's a Base64-encoded string with the map settings & mods etc.

Thanks for the inputs. The buttons to copy / paste buttons are a good idea.
