Economical inserter

Hi,

Why not add an economical inserter using really low energy but also slower than the basic Inserter.

The idea behind that is to allow to save energy by using economical inserter for inserter where speed is not required (lab for example).

The other idea behind that is to allow user to have a slow inserter, allowing to avoid inserter to take all item without using a splitter.

I like that idea, but I think it should be in a mod, rather than in vanilla game.
I have no idea what I'm talking about.

It's an interesting idea but is it really necessary? Even with 500 inserters running they take up roughly 700MW of power, that's about 1.3 steam engines. And when they aren't running they take up even less energy(400w drain).

I agree this is probably better as a mod.

Then I will see to do this mod. I just found the modding tutorial (I was searching in modding help, not modding general ><).

To be honest, i use the standard yellow inserters for exactly that. I personally wouldn't use such an economical inserter, but I guess some people would. Go ahead, make a mod :)

To make those eco inserters all you have to do is find this line "rotation_speed = x" wheras x is the speed. For normal inserters the speed is: 0.01
So to make an eco inserter all you have to do is just set the speed to lets say "rotation_speed = 0.001" so it is 1/10 of the speed of a normal inserter.

There are already some mods, which add new inserter types. See, how they did it.
