Perhaps it pays to first describe what the current options are:
1. solar: cycle-based set-and-forget generation but requires a ton of real estate. (aided by the accumulators to bridge the low point in the cycle)
2. steam: fuel and water based generation, space-efficient but polluting
Something fuel based (without water) that doesn't take a ton of real estate but is less efficient than steam. Would be nice for mining outposts outposts that you don't want to put a power line to and don't want to surround with solar panels.
Besides that I don't agree that nuclear is the correct answer.
Unless it takes time (like half a day cycle) to start and stop and it will explode violently if it cannot get rid of its energy. So you are required to set up a circuit system to manage the on-off cycle

YES pls, we want nuclear power plant (it can be next big step after rocket lounch).
We will take risk of nuclear catastrof for sure
