Nuclear Weapons

With the addition of nuclear power, I'd like to see nuclear weapons as well.

I'm thinking there would be the warhead, which you could put inside a missile, or a bomb which could be placed somewhere to blow up with a countdown timer. The missile ones could be built in a similar fashion as the rocket silo does. If you choose the missile option, you would target an area on the map, and it would blow up everything in the area (killing biter nests) and would leave a huge amount of pollution in the area.

When there is a lot of pollution in an area, the player would take damage. This would be supplemented with some sort of suit which would protect the player from the pollution (radiation). This would mean the player would need to wait for the fallout to dissipate for many, many, many days (or can go in a suit). So potentially, in very large factories, players could take damage from all the pollution they produce.

It is getting somewhat difficult to battle larger bases currently, and gets quite tedious, you end up spamming 70 destroyer bots and they die relatively quickly. Adding nuclear weapons would allow players to battle more evolved enemies as well, maybe a another type that could swim in water? I'm thinking something really long with a tail that would swim in the water. Then on land, it would look like a scorpion, wapping and stabbing at its targets with its tail.

Like in real life, nukes are extremely powerful, but are very expensive. You end up "wasting" uranium that could be used for producing power (for a long time).

It kind of bugs me when someone says "How it works in real life" with regards to technology and our current capabilities. How much of the game works as it does in real life? This is an engineer probably thousands of years ahead of our technology, with nothing but the augment pack on his back can literally build a tank out of rocks from the ground.

I didn't mean it in that way, but the nuke should be expensive to balance it.

Of course. However at this point uranium is only useful for power so you're not losing a huge deal.

I mean consider oil, and how integral it is to the late game. Anything using advanced circuits or batteries rely on it, so when you start building rockets out of tons of explosives you really notice and it's a real choice whether you should use something more efficient (currently not a choice but here's hoping weapons are balanced before release) or bite the bullet and go hunting for more oil to sustain it.

Now when you consider grenades, you're happy to make thousands of the things because coal is abundant and once you switch to solar it's only used for plastic.

Unless a nuclear reactor burns through a uranium patch as fast as a rocket burns through an oil field, expense becomes abstract.
