Electric transport ideas

I am sure that there are plenty of ideas on this. But with the addition of grids I'd like to go into details from my standpoint

Many times I heard the idea of adding module for electric conversion. I am truly against this idea as such modules would most probably just take all grid space negating other options for modding transport.

So basicly you need a separate entity of electric transport which works on electricity and has no other options. To produce it you will need a lot of electric engines which are basicly one tier of technology ahead of common engines.

To be able to function electric transport consumes a certain power value. This power may come from both installed modules (solar, fusion, accumulators) and from factory power grid. To be able to connect to factory power grid a transport should be covered by power poles or substations.

For example we can get a transport that will charge up its accumulators on the base and then be able to ride around consuming the charge. You will see vehicle battery level as your common battery level indicator to prevent staying mid desert with no charge left. When you research and build fusion reactor you might opt for fully autonomous vehicle. You can think about being able to connect power suit power to a vehicle as an option.

As to electric trains. While working on accumulators/reactor is still a valid option (where trains will charge accumulators on the station) you might introduce electric railways which will simply apply power coverage on all its length. This way you will allow a train to be power supplied on all its way without usage of modules freeing the grid for other use. However electric rails will cost more compared to common ones.

With all this implemented we are using all the technology variety in the game giving the player many options on how to implement the solution. I find it really nice for the game.
