Change the splitter name to distributor (or something similar) and make a similar block called the splitter that splits the left lane and the right lane into 2 separate conveyors instead of dividing 1:1. Many new people were confused at how the splitter worked because the name suggested something completely different to what it did. Similar to what you did with the smart inserter, this should be a change.

Another idea I just got that might help is a mirror sort of block also similar to these, but it switches the lanes left to right (and vice versa), is 1x1, and has a 1 block output.

If you think this is a good idea, but something wasn't clear, please ask because I feel this would be a huge change to how conveyors work are used.
Sorry for this being so long, I just had most of the idea fully fleshed out.

You think you're confused with the splitter, wait until you get to the smart chest names.
