Defoliant for the game start?

Some defoliant with placing principles like for concrete?
Like, you mill some stone, coal, copper and iron ores, mix them in an assembler into some cheap "defoliant" and spread it on the earth like concrete (with brushes 10x10 preferably). Then maybe wait like few days. In these days trees (and grass) become yellow, then dead, and later they just rot into dust. So we have no trees problem. :)

You play very differently than I if you consider Military 3 tech "game start." :)

Waiting for v0.13 and having a flamethrower and fire, which burns a whole forest? :)

not sure, but won't flamethrower need oil?

Maybe we should have some defoliant in the inventory from the start. Or flamethrower with some fuel for it.

Clearing a forest can be very tough early on.

IMO? I think this problem can be solved by simply drawing inspiration from the story. The player crashed down, so make a crash site. Clear an opening from touch down, and start a few local fires. Let nature take care of the rest.

I agree that something is needed to help clear forests. In the early game forests are a catch 22 situation, on the one hand you get better pollution absorption, on the other, chop chop chop...

Not sure about this! Wouldn't pollution go through the roof? (Will forest fires add to pollution? Can only assume they will) Wouldn't be overly cool to have a mini biter invasion 10 mins after crash landing I'm thinking.

I use a mod called agent orange (red science needed) Which helps massively to clear forests, though does have a noticeable impact on game performance - but only for the duration of the capsules use (around 15ish seconds) And only when using a large number.

MODs aside I do feel something is needed to help clear forests, how about one of these?

The player doesn't need ridiculous map clearing tech. They just need to get out of a forest if they are stuck in the middle of one. A small blast opening and a fire will do that.

I don't think burning trees generate pollution. Obviously getting rid of trees will reduce your pollution absorbers, but most players ignore that quickly enough.

Poison capsules are a lie.

Either that or all the grass on the planet is synthetic.
