Hello there , Marius here ,
I have an issue with buying factorio.I have a card with which I cannot buy factorio(I live in Germany by the way), and it will be dummy to make a new card only to be able to buy this game .It would be cool if people could buy factorio on amazon or game shops/supermarkets online or as a cd . Hope you guys will do something about this . Thanks for your patience and hope I didn't bother you with this problem .The game is really nice . Wish you good luck .

You can pay using a paysafecard (20€ or 2x 10€), which you can buy at most gas stations and supermarkets in Germany and most other european countries.

When buying Factorio, you just need to enter the 16-digit PIN on the card.

I bought Factorio in Austria with a paysafe card. It could not have been easier and faster. I could download within minutes. And opposite what the name paysafe card implies, this paying method doesn't require a card

Or you buy it on steam, when your card works there.

The devs are working on that also steamusers could downlaod the drm-free version later, if the drm is your concern.

Or if yopu have friends with valid paymentmethods, they could pay with them for your game and you give them the € in real money :) (this is what my children have done, I usualy pay with PayPal).

I strongly recommend to buy from the developers website

Post by brunzenstein »

I strongly recommend to buy Factorio from the developers website directly because:

- that supports the dev team financially as it cuts out the middle men
- all program updates are immediately and automatic available
- buying direct means one gets a DRM free App
- not depending on Steams proprietary software or server performance
- not handing over more credit card or personal info as absolutely necessary

and on top of it:

- you will provided with a STEAM code from the developers anyhow.
my 2cents

Buy it on CD, what a novel idea. Perhaps it should be available on a stack of floppy disks too!

oh gawd, I am reminded of spending half the day trying to install windows 95 from a stack of floppy disks a foot high.

Seriously though, CD isn't such a bad idea, except the game changes so fast these days, that it isn't viable. if anything, downloading it from somewhere like steam is the best way to go. (I mean, seriously, there have been games released on DVD before, that when you put in the disk, there's nothing but a file that starts downloading the game from the internet.)

I sign that statement - but - why someone buys via Steam a DRM bound software from a middle man who is extending the food chain and not directly a DRM free one from the developer (and therefore give to the developer a small and free commercial edge) is beyond me. Especially in the light of the shaggy Steam performance, questionable user data security, that one has to run a proprietary Steam limitation software to start a Steam crippled game in first place- one could have for the same price hassle free from the producer.
Grotesque - especially in the light that Factorio provides a Steam code for direct-buyers from their developers website for free.

I must agree to that also. I'd rather pay the dev's directly for a DRM free copy of the game than steam. Steam is purely for convenience.

In fact, I bought the now discontinued second tier, with the scenario pack in it.

Wasn't I supposed to get some sort of bonus for that?
