Independent day/night cycles for each world

When we finally get to new planets thanks to the rockets I think they should have different day/night cycles for more interesting gameplay.

How would you plan your solar then? It would be annoying if anything. I would rather see some other types of environment.

I think this could be a quite interesting idea. Why not having different day / night phases with different intensities of light.
It could also be interesting to have different biomes and alien flora and fauna, but i think that's a different story.
Shorter or asymetrical day / night intervals could prove to be a good challenge for the players. Additionally there could be random occurances changing the intensity of light up or down.
This could have an impact of temperatures, if this was a thing and alien life as well.

Carefully. They would require testing, to be sure, but what build doesn't?

Except if you randomize each planet you would have to test it every single time.

So?

just implement a combinator that puts out the intensity of the light as a number and count the ticks it's >0 on one decider and ==0 on another. then you figure out the maximum intensity and count the ticks it's at that max, and you have all the information you need to calculate the correct solar panel to accumulator ratio with the help of this topic https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=5&t=5594

It would also open up the possibility to say colonize a moon which have very long nights because of planetary eclipse

I was about to comment the same thing :)
And the comment about the as enteric day/night cycles, currently the day/night cycle is 30/10.
