Heres the idea: Crafting robots. Robots that will take items from the logistics system and craft the item you want them to. Fairly simple and easy, and it would help out alot.

Moved from concept. This is not a concept. If you continue to post there I need to close that board for new posts.
What is the game-value of this? For me it makes assemblies obsolete. Why?

This takes the "all bot factory" strategy to a whole new level. What would be left--mines and oil pumps feeding into a big clump of chests with a cloud of crafting bots around it?

Unless of course, we place ridiculous limitations on the things- they cannot craft anything that requires more than one item, they can only be launched from the personal roboport and only craft things at the explicit will of the player...
Actually, come to think of it, if this could be used only to multi-thread handcrafting, that would be a great help.

I think that thought is good, but it undermines the sense of Factorio, to automate everything.

To stick with the theme, how about instead a robotic crafting module for armor?
You give up some slots for the ability to craft things much faster, but would consume suit power when doing so. Useful for crafting outpost buildings in the field, or stuff you need lots of in small bursts like Conveyor Belts.
