Space Age should have created a more thrilling experience

Space Age should have created a more thrilling experience, like some AAA games that feature significant, game-changing moments. For example, when choosing your next destination or preparing to fly into space/onto a planet, a serious dialog could appear, warning you that once you proceed, there’s no turning back. You wouldn’t even know what’s happening on Nauvis—no map access, nothing (technically, pausing the surface might be possible...?). You’d only be aware of the new location you’ve transported to. No dropping items from the space platform through a drop pod, no resources/items supported from the space platform—you’d have to start everything from scratch, just like the beginning.

As you progress further, new technologies could unlock, allowing you to drop items down or enabling easier transport between planets. Later, you could unlock tech to view maps across planets, but this feature wouldn’t be available from the start.

There should be a way to make you completely reliant on the planet you’re on, forcing you to adapt to its harsh conditions. Like, with resources on Vulcanus, you have to figure out a way/build things up so that you can fight back the Demolisher. This would create a sense that you’re genuinely progressing through different stages of the game. Right now, being able to drop items down feels like cheating or something that really breaks what the devs have done and the effort they’ve put into designing the planets so far.

In other words, remake Factorio into something it was not supposed to be initially.
Sheesh.

Are we playing same Factorio?
Can you describe how you managed to skip all the way to progress to sustainable automatizeable, say, Navius<->Gleba space platforms?

Does space age not include significant game changing moments? I am confused.

It sounds to me like you are just describing a space age playthrough but limiting yourself to not dropping items onto each of the first 3 planets.

And this is basically what I wound up doing in my first playthrough because I didn't realize I didn't need to manually assemble a landing pad on each planet I visited before I could do any space deliveries. (Took me until aquilo to realize I didn't need to do this and could just drop stuff without the pad x.=.x)

You can just play the game this way if you want to; nothing is stopping you. There are also mods for changing your starting planet too if you want to give that a try.

Might be neat to see an achievement for building a rocket silo on every planet without dropping anything from orbit until after it is constructed (excluding aquilo).
