TL;DR
Make Steel Chests remember that they were supposed to be Storage Chests. What ?
Blueprints can include Storage Chests. Storage Chests (including in blueprints) can have Logistic Filter setting. When the Storage Chest is placed, it has the blueprinted settings. If you instead place, say, a Steel Chest, then the intended Storage Chest's settings are lost. If/when you later upgrade the Steel Chest to a Storage Chest, you now have to manually set the filter or reapply the blueprint, which can be tedious.
It would be better for the Steel Chest to remember that it was supposed to be a Storage Chest so that, if/when it later gets upgraded, the originally intended Storage Chest settings should be applied automatically. Similar to how circuit network settings can be applied to, say, an inserter, before attaching a red/green wire to it - the settings only take effect when the wire is connected.
