I think flying biters might be interesting, would have to have defenses inside your base / anti-aircraft turrets and would circumvent your defenses a bit. I'm currently playing on a map where my base is on a peninsula in a small sea, and all across the water there's hordes of biters and bases that just don't achieve anything.

I don't understand why the regular gun & laser turrets wouldn't be able to shoot flying biters. It's not like they'd be flying at 30,000 feet off the ground, surely they'd be just a couple hundred feet at absolute most, and likely rather lower.
