[0.18.26] Audio - Incorrect Vehicle Entry Sound in Map View

See attached IRC log - not just my machine, not just on one OS platform. Sorry if this has already been reported, I could not find any similar topics.

Reproduction works best when you mute the game music and crank up the game effects to maximum

Two ways to reproduce:

Method A:
  1. Place a vehicle (Tank or Car)
  2. Put fuel into the vehicle (bug does not produce if there is no fuel)
  3. Enter the vehicle
  4. Enter map view
  5. Pan a few hundred blocks away from your vehicle & avatar (bug does not produce if you are local to the avatar on the map)
  6. Zoom into surface view (out of the "radar" view)
  7. Press 'm' or 'esc' or click the map (or other UI method) to exit the map
    Bug: You can hear the "engine" start noise when you are not supposed to
Method B:
  1. Place a vehicle (Tank or Car)
  2. Put fuel into the vehicle (bug does not produce if there is no fuel)
  3. Enter the vehicle
  4. Enter map view
  5. Pan a few hundred blocks away from your vehicle & avatar (bug does not produce if you are local to the avatar on the map)

I can reproduce this effect on unmodded 0.18.30 not only when exiting the map, but also on zooming in so the detailed graphics become visible (where there's a radar available) and zooming out to the schematic graphics.
  1. Get in a car with fuel / running engine.
  2. Go to the map view ('m').
  3. Pan so the player is not in view (to anywhere, exploration or radar view doesn't matter).
  4. Zoom in to the detailed view and the engine sound cuts out.
  5. Zoom out to the schematic view and the engine sound starts.
Both 4 and 5 are expected, but with 5 the 'engine start' sound also plays, that's not expected.

Adding information to this upon request.

I stumbled across this bug while recording a let's play. While I'm not certain exactly what version the recording was made on, it still happens as described in 0.18.32.

A little bit of experimenting around the bug survived into the final edit of that let's play (at 32:17 for about 50 seconds or so)

To clarify, I would say the expected behaviour would be for the engine ignition sound to play only when the vehicle is entered.

Just noticed this today. Still happens in 1.0.0. It seems to happen whenever the vehicle is outside of audio range, which is almost to the edge of the screen at the farthest zoom level (before map mode takes over). So if the car is visible at the very edge, it'll also work.

Our sound system isn't the most robust, for now I am moving this to won't fix
