See screenshot below. In my opinion that overlap is really weird and annoys me.

(It happens for both, output and input ports of the chemical plant)

I wouldn't even call this a bug (pipe could be just above ground, so it above splitters), but so be it.
That said, it probably won't be fixed.

If it bothers you, build the splitters elsewhere.
