Whenever I press SHIFT+TAB the game freezes and nothing more can be done.
This happens seemingly everywhere, tested in game but also during the initial game menu where even the menu simulation stops and all buttons become non-reactive.

Current soundtrack plays until completion and then game is left only with whatever effects are still playing in the background (machine sounds and beeps)

I expected nothing to happen
(or in fact, I wanted to switch back to my previous weapon at first, since I have TAB as a shortcut for changing weapons muscle memory tried switching back with SHIFT+TAB but that's not the point… hehe)

I've tried it a few times and in those tests it always crashed the game.
Only way to recover seems to be to force-quit the game. One time I left it running for over an hour and the game didn't recover by itself.

Tested on a M1 Macbook Pro with Sonoma 15.0.1

Hi, I don't seem to be able to reproduce this. Could you send me a copy of your confirmation file so I can test your specific control settings?

Also, can you check if you have any custom window management or input management apps running in the background? (e.g. Swish, BentoBox, Keyboard Maestro, BetterTouchTool, etc.) If you do, can you try shutting some of them down and see if the issue is still reproducible? Sometimes those kinds of programs can interfere with Factorio in strange ways.

I don't know how to get the confirmation file but I do have BetterTouchTool installed.

I quickly tried again after quitting BTT and now the game doesn't crash (and I actually get a Steam overlay when pressing SHIFT+TAB) so I guess it's a conflict between Steam and BTT fighting over it somehow.

EDIT: changed steam overlay shortcut and now everything is good even if BTT is running as well
Weirdly specific that this combo breaks but other seems to work just fine

Glad it's working! You're not the only one who's had issues with BTT and Factorio. Perhaps I'll have time to learn more about this later.
