Shrinking images

The images I upload are scaled on display to be the maximum possible width, so if I upload narrow images, they end up enormous (even squarish images are pretty big):

Is there a way to shrink them down inline? Something in the spirit of adding suffixes to imgur filenames or whatever?

I'm not sure hat you ask for is possible. However, you could :
1) upload jpg instead of png. jpgs are much lighter to load
2) add collapsible spoiler tags, to help visually
