How to disallow new threads in a board I am moderator of?

I have a board for my mods here and want to prevent users from creating new threads.

The problem is that rather than keeping discussions to the threads for the individual mods, users are posting every little comment and issue as a new thread, which is rapidly growing disorganized and useless as a knowledgebase.

How can I force them to post in the mod's threads as opposed to creating new thread #35?

I'm not sure you can. At least, you can merge the topics quite quickly (pro merger here :))

This brings you to the list of topics in your subforum, you just select the topic you want to merge the other into, click "Select for Merge", and you're done.

OK, secondary question: Can I reorder posts, so that my "main" first post is on the top?

No. Posts are ordered by date (or maybe even by post number now I think of it).
However, if your post is the oldest one, it will definitely be on top.

You could always make it sticky or even an announcement. Those are always sorted at the top.

The topic can be made sticky, but you can't make a post within a topic sticky. Am I clear ?

Sorry to bring it up again, but how do you prevent people from posting in the releases subforum?

I can't.
However a forum admin must have set something on the subforum so that only global moderator and above can create a topic in there (it's just a guess).

I'm "only" a moderator, with no experience in phpbb forum administration, so take my assumptions with a grain of salt :)

Reika,

I have made it so that normal members cannot make new threads in your subforum.

If any other mod forum moderator would like to make such a change too, please let me know.
