Signature limit

So I wish to include links to all mods I produce in my signature. I see there is a character limit, which I understand, however this takes into consideration code used to make links etc work (for example [ color ] [ url ] etc), of which, obviously the URL one is what I need to use the most...

Would it be possible to make it distinguish the difference between true character limit and "code" characters? And then only limit the true content displayed, instead of the "coding" behind the signature.

If not, then perhaps a generous increase :D  ?

I am sure I am not the only one who would love this change!

Perhaps you could take font size into consideration, so the smaller the font used, the more characters you are allowed? (I am not sure how much you can customize it)

I hate colors, anything that makes people use less of them is good.

Well I understand that, but Hyper-link colours are not changeable to my knowledge (perhaps another suggestion right there?)

I'm using

Code: Select all

Looking for someone to play multiplayer with? Visit my [Public/Europe] Dedicated Server [0.12.10/Marathon/RSO/FARL]
and it keeps both normal text and the url text at #222222, no matter if already visited or not.
MrDrummers links change from black to light blue when clicked.

Although my signature is already 235 characters with that code, and I didn't even notice there was a character limit of 255, so that wouldn't be a practical approach for now.
EDIT: the 255 character limit only counts actual text, not tags, see my response 2 posts below.

Maybe ssilk can change this limit, but to my knowledge you can only limit the amount of characters for the signature, not the actual height/width when displayed.

Check out my new mods! I am new to the modding community and I have lots of ideas! (I am going for a week mod release streak)

I could use shortened links, but that only avoids the issue. Like I say, I'd like to be able to list all mods I own with direct links to them.

Seems that's what it does already, it only counts the non-tag elements (only the text between tags) towards the 255 character limit, otherwise your signature would be 606 characters long. So you could add the color for each text element (or other tags), and it wouldn't count towards this limit.

Likewise, the length of the URL doesn't count towards this limit, only the text that is displayed.
Just tested it with an URL that was 3000 (!) characters long, and it saved the signature (and linked it correctly).

Oh wow, i just assumed that the character limit was including the code as well. I didn't think to measure how long my actual signature is.

Well, I guess I shall just have to have my links and not the top part (for now)
