Edited posts should be tagged as unread. Very often when mod is updated i miss that because author only edit first post in topic and it shows nowhere.

But this should only be the case on mod topics, and I don't think it's easy to be done. I've never seen anyone complaining here about bumping your own topic if you release a new version of the mod, and you end up creating a new post to say it, even if the mod author is the last post's author (considered spam on many forums).
