Read the error exactly.

(Active mods configuration doesn't match) means, that your mods differ. They need to be exactly the same.

Even if you don't have any mods installed, maybe one of you has the scenario pack; afaik it's not working then. Just choose "Mods" in the menu and deactivate everything but the Basic package (or at least get the same mods for you and your mate).

don't forget to restart the game after configuring the mods
to "disabled" to actually disable them.

Hi
I have the same problem with a friend we have open ports 34197.
Delete folder app_data/roaming/factorio desinstall factorio and reinstall factorio.
So we have same config (mod and scenario but the game still show this message.)

We are both win64.

Connection refused by peer. Reason: type(ConnectionReply) confirm(true) status(refused) description(Active mods configuration doesn't match.) remoteApplicationVersion(0.11.1 (Build 12084, win64)) remoteActiveMods((base 0.11.1) (scenario-pack 0.10.1) ).

i don't have any idea so i hope someone can help :)

Obviously you have different mods installed. Go through the mods-manager and make it equal. (Did one have the scenario pack mod running?)
