Radar (Bob + RSO)

Is there a consensus on the balance of Bob's progressive radar upgrades when using RSO? I haven't played in a couple months, but from what I remember, RSO put the resources far enough apart where you need a bigger radar at the start if you ever expect to find all the resource types you'll be needing.

I tried the Big Brother mod a while ago, but there was some kind of bug with Bob's which caused it to never reveal new chunks -- only the vision radius. I'm getting ready to start again, and I'd like to know whether I should install the rso radar mod or just stick with what Bob provides.

I'm playing Bob + RSO and have no extra radar mod enabled. I don't even building radars at the start. Just walk around a bit or drive in a car to reveal resources and you find things.

In my latest game I've enabled some option to fully reveal ore patches when (i thought) they where partially revealed. Instead it reveals all patches RSO places. So you see all the ores in a 7 chunk radius around your discovered region. I think it shows way too much but if you are afraid of not finding ores that will help.

I've never heard of that option. Though perhaps the real issue was that I set the ores to be more rare so that I'd have to branch out with more rail to get everything. The problem became that certain important types were (by chance) nowhere near the early expansion area.

Don't remember the exact name of the option and it might be new. Don't remember seeing it before.

As for ore being far away... The problem (for me) isn't the distance. It's all the aliens in between. I should have gone exploring and finding everything needed early while the aliens weren't as evolved. And before I killed any.
