Wiki for modded content

Any plans to added wiki pages for major modded content?
Angels, Bobs, Yuoki, AAI, etc.
Angels, Bobs, Yuoki, AAI, etc.
Good luck to whoever tries that. Just a making a wiki just for Bob's mods alone is near impossible because the mod is so modular. Add Angel's to that and you have like 10 ways to make one item depending on the mod configuration. Even with the tools that we use on the official wiki that would be extremely hard to document.olafthecat wrote:You could create your own wiki for modded content on fandom.
I can't speak for other mod creators but i'm regularly already short on time trying to make mods at all. I can imagine that anybody who makes anything but small mods simply - as much as they wanted to - wouldn't have the time to also write extensive end-user documentation for it.olafthecat wrote:We ask the mod creators to do it.
They should surely know how their own mods work.
But that is if they want to...I bet there is one somewhere already
Which would also be an issue if the pages were put on the main wiki.Bilka wrote:Good luck to whoever tries that. I actually clicked that expecting user-relevant info which wasn't even there... Also readmes are not supposed to be manuals. And any files inside a zipped mod has 0% chance of ever been seen by any end-user.Supercheese wrote:I prefer creating nice Readme files than wiki content.
Of course, then you have the issue of users not reading (or perhaps not even being aware of) the Readme...!
Ok then, point taken.5thHorseman wrote:This is basically impossible. If a modder wants to document their mod, more power to them. I'd love it. But I don't expect my free add-on to also come with free documentation, and neither should anybody else.
As to others doing it, that could work but generally people get bored maintaining an ever-changing list of features, especially when they inevitably move on to another mod or game.
Would you mind stopping to post these "any others?" one-liners. 50% of your posts in this thread alone are of that type, which is very bad netiquette. If anybody else has something to say they will certainly do so without your invitation. And your non-content posts make reading the thread all the more difficult. If you have nothing to say then simply say nothing. Thank you.olafthecat wrote:Ok then, point taken.
Any others?
It's hard enough trying to keep the mod up to date, let alone having to keep other sources of information up to date too...olafthecat wrote:We ask the mod creators to do it.

I haven't played your mod personally GASP but I can understand your README issues.bobingabout wrote:It's hard enough trying to keep the mod up to date, let alone having to keep other sources of information up to date too...olafthecat wrote:We ask the mod creators to do it.

that's basically why I stopped updating the "readme" file in every mod that included all this information, it was too much work.
I ended up just not including the file rather than updating it.
