Reader Tenses- which is preferable?

This is something of a poll for people's opinions on which grammatical tense, at least in english, the reader should be addressed in. I was making changes to make it solidly "The reader" and "they" iterations, but we can also use "one" (referring to a general audience) or we can just directly address the reader.

I'd like to hear opinions on the matter instead of just putting up a boring old poll.

I think referring to the player would be appropriate.
Directly adressing sounds in my opinion not like a wiki.

Exactly, as its an official public documentation we should try to keep it unpersonal, objective and free of personal preferences. At least for the general Information part. When it comes to hints and examples this is for sure not able to kept free of personality.

So from my side "the player" would work but maybe an unspecified 3rd person "it" would also do the job. When I remember correct this was referred to as "passive".

I would also suggest the use of passive whenever possible.
Like "The player can build assembling machines directly from his inventory" ==> "Assembling machines can be built directly from the players inventory".

Could help to make the game gender neutral
By the way, is 'the player' an android.
It would explain the ridiculously fast inventory crafting and massive storage.
