Not tilde nor slash to open the command console

Not a bug(?) and not asking for help (my problem solved).

I've been playing for a week and frustrated only by not being able to open the command console (to set peaceful mode).

I am on Linux Mint with a "standard" Logitech keyboard ("generic 105-key PC (intl.)") and Factorio is 1.1.107.62234.

I have discovered that the command console opens when I type Grave-accent (back quote) which is the same key as tilde (~)
but used with no Shift key.

I don't know why this diverges from the documentation, nor whether the document ought to be extended (if there's a good reason
known for the discrepancy), but I am hoping anyway that posting this will either a) help others and/or b) trigger more elucidation
from others.

Anyway: now I am happy. The sitters were starting to wear me down!

It will depend on your keyboard layout what it's called.
I'll move this to the wiki discussion as there is discrepancy between https://wiki.factorio.com/Console and https://wiki.factorio.com/Controls.
