it's already available on the "experimental" branch, and you should test your saves now if you want them to work properly when 1.1 is marked as stable.
because then 1.1 won't be getting bug fixes, just like how 1.0 doesn't anymore.

I don't think this was ever officially announced for any release other than 1.0.
I still expect bug fixes for 1.1 after it was marked stable – just like 0.16 and 0.17 had bug fixes after marked stable.

That probably depends on how many (and how serious) are the bugs. The are probably aiming for no bug fixes to 1.1 after it reaches stable, but if something serious is found, I expect they will push a fix.

they will likely have an experimental branch for fixes, to vet them before they are released to the stable branch like they're doing now. they have said this style of deployment has been working for them.
