I play in the Death World Marathon. Pure vanilla by default everything and without any mods.
I'm probably a Slowpoke, but I managed to launch the rocket only 98 hours from the start of the game. Of this time, 90 hours, I fought with biters and spitters, and only a tenth was spent on the construction itself.
It is quite possible that I did not play very optimally and was in no hurry :)
I think that the Marathon is still somewhat more difficult than just the DW?

Yeah, marathon is definitely harder.

98 hours is fine. It's supposed to be fun, why rush it?

The one tricky thing about going slow is your evolution starts to creep up on time, so you have to deal with the bigger aliens.

Green modules and solar help a lot to keep the biters from hassling you.

I should check how much time it took to me to get oil/nukes/arty in my DeathWorld Marathon attempt...
(Though of course speedrunning wasn't a goal - the main goal had been to get to oil before 50% evo-
-but which arguably has a very large time component, especially since it was started on 0.17.0 when DeathWorld Marathon was still the same as DeathWorld + Marathon.)
It's supposed to be fun, why rush it?
Because this is a speedrun topic ?
