have just upgraded from version 0.16.51 to version 0.17.79 and was looking forward to an improved game experience, and to be honest the graphics are wow.

But to my horror I found that the tool belt has been rendered useless. A change that just did not need to happen.

Please can we have a mod to return the old stile tool belt?

You mean the quickbar? The old one was really bad in retrospect. It was an extra inventory, so there was a constant conflict between what you have there and what you have in the inventory. Now everything is just a shortcut to your inventory. Which means when have several hundred pieces of a particular item you can use all of them from the hotbar. And not just one stack.

And no, they obviously won't bring the old one back.

0.17.79 is to be outdated by 0.18 stable (or 1.0) in a few weeks. Any complaint should at least consider the new GUIs.

@OP : what is new for you is not-so-new for those of us who have played all (or most) unstable versions after 0.16.51.

I can't back up my claims with data, but I think it's overall considered better than the previous system of toolbar. Some people do like it less, and have said so in the forum, but compared to some other drastic changes, I've seen very few people complaining about it.

The New Style of Tool Belt is the best thing since baked bread.
