Big Complaint about the Release Party

Dear Devs,
I really love the idea of the release party and I would love to attend, but it is wrong to say covid is over. It's far far from over and making a big party like that is very irresponsible. Nobody knows where people are coming from and if they may be infected. Even people themselves don't know if they are. It is too risky. You will basicly endanger you and and every articipant of the party.
It is much to early to do something risky like that.
Can't we have a release Party moved back to next year, where the situation hopefully gets better?
Don't get me wrong I really love the idea of the party and would like to meet yoou guys, and other fans and players. but with covid as it is now my commen sense cannt allow that

We are not saying the pandemic is over, in the FFF we said clearly the situation can change very quicky.
If things continue as they are in Czechia (and most of Central Europe), with daily cases dropping, contact tracing up and running, etc. then we think its going to be fine to host this party.
We will continue to follow the recommendations of the Czech government, which so far has dealt with the virus extremely competently, and we will make sure the event is in full compliance with the requirements from the health ministry

Everybody chooses on their own who (pun intended) to trust, and how you they care for their own body.
If you don't think its safe, don't go. But please respect that people have decided for there own that its best to not wait a year, or even longer (!?) for them to move on with their lives, including parties and travelling abroad, as soon as restrictions will allow them to.
My common sense says me a physical party is great to reduce stress, and enforces your immune system (If you mind the alcohol). It will also brings very valuable thing called social contact. Three factors i consider currently lacking and very important for my personal health. Life is a risk, and it's not likely that you are going to get out of it alive. And usually people suffer most from the suffering they fear.
Devs base their decision on the Czech government, which seems reasonable for a Czech company.
To be honest i think Wube actually shows its common sense, by keeping the option open to actually organize a party if possible by that time.
To celebrate goals in life in the short time that we are here, on this dangerous beautiful world called Earth.
Still they already announce the option to cancel if required, and offer a refund (not a voucher) for your ticket.
It's now or never, devs won't promise us "next summer" again anymore xD.

You're right. We all have to make our own decisions.
There is a significant excess mortality rate (especially in countries without many restrictions). Of course, we all have to die anyway. But with covid19 shaving off more than 10 years on average for more than 500.000 people worldwide it seems a little bit selfish to only consider your own life and health.
"Don't go to the party" actually doesn't do the trick. It's the result of multi-spreader events that keep the virus alive and endanger everybody else.
Having that said, I still think that it's ok to organize the party as long as it complies to Czech rules.
All visitors should also check if they can comply to the rules in their own country when going to the party.

I tried to formulate my post avoiding the debate about covid statistics specific research claims, as a debate on these here won't help the cohesion on the forum.
In the beginning following the regulations has been set as a mandatory requirement to even give the party. No gov go, no party. So i just try to down the alarming tone a bit, by saying that unnecessary restrictions won't do good, and the party even may have positive health effects to the attendees.
My motive is not selfish (don't even know, if i even can attend myself) but indeed personal.
As my job was considered "essential" i've been working in public the entire year. Soon turned out that social distancing was practically impossible, and that really worried me at first.
But as a engineer i learned to stay rational, and to perform scientific research to base my decisions on. To keep questioning myself, to stay critical in a ever changing world.
I didn't want to harm my family, but i also wanted keep my job, helping my local community. Especially in this time. Let's say i am very happy that i continued my job, and i succeed in both objectives.
Not a single contact tracing has led to our team, and we have been praised by the local authorities how we handled the daily situation.
Business went well (mind the local economy here). As time went by i couldn't help i felt more and more comfortable to perform my job in the way i (and my customers) are used to do.
By the latest statements of my government, i should consider myself at great danger at my job, in the exact alarming way OP was written.
For others it is anecdotal fallacy, but for me it is personal experience. That's all i want to say here on this platform.
My personal opinion: I fear more for the effects of all the social fear spread by various media on us rather than dangers of the virus on me and my community.
During entire 2020 i had to travel to be able to care for my elder family members, one of which was unfortunate to have a serious decease which was fortunately not covid19. I could not simply lock myself in behind my pc.
I tried to care for myself, for my loved ones, and for my surrounding people. And i feel like i succeed in it.
I understand if my language requires an elaboration, but selfish is not the most elegant way to describe it.
We are one

So you realize that you're biased, but you tell yourself you're not biased because you have experience? Sounds contradictory to me.

Interesting link. Sure i am biased, but i wonder if i am the only one here "being biassed". I try my best to hard to talk around a big elephant in the room. But is does not help me at all, as it works out the contrary.
Well, at least the record has my attempt of a shout out to all: Don't Panic and keep caring for each other.
And may it be a great party if it ends being possible!

Listen to what specialists have to say about the pandemic is not being biased. You're an engineer, you're in no position to tell what's safe and what's not during this pandemic based on personal experiences, especially something that has no relation with parties. Besides, I'm sure you and your team followed all the safety protocols imposed by your local government and/or your company to avoid contagion, something way more difficult to do at a party.
