Ex-modded minecraft player, fallen in love with your creation! Was hunting for something new and confused why I didn't spot this sooner. Ticks all the right boxes for me, including that really satisfying click sound when you mouse click the GUI.

My first impression was: WTF is this, how the fuck does this work, why am i in the middle of a damn wood and can barely move. I quit after half an hour playtime and picked it up again a year later, which was 2 weeks ago after a friend pushed me to try it again.

Second impression was: This is amazing! Needles to say i wasted half my holiday on playing it and do have a addiction now. But it is fine, i can stop if i want to.

I didn't really know what I was getting into. I heard amazing things about the development team and transparency they provide, so I decided to give it a shot. Just slowly followed the tutorials then decided to do my own thing. It's an absolute blast!

Thissun? Thattun? Can anyone get 120 rockets launched sub-1h40m? <-- That's cheese05 playing a different game, as anyone who's familiar with speedrunning as a more general topic can guess.

I feel almost like buying you Don't Starve just for a reaction vid. Please let me upload it before you kill me ;)

More seriously though, you probably like a certain mod by Skomick and a certain mod by Supercheese, and most of all a certa- (warning: troll mode detected) -in mod by Devilwarriors.

I can't remember what my first impressions were. 7 hours in though and my impressions so far are...
Why bother with trains... at all?
Why do I have to upgrade furnace tech when stone furnaces are an ever expandable sufficient utility?
What's with the weird ass techs like miltech requiring grenades... yes that's right high science requires shrapnel inducing frag grenades *raises eyebrow; & why so goddamn much!?! 1000 for uranium bullets arbitrary 1000 for the rocket of arbitrary all types.
I guess my impression is hey I seem to be doing alright, yep supply is keeping up with demand; oh WTF where did that cliff of beakers come from and yes now i'm out of iron in my vicinity.... in my area.... in my region.... on my planet. :P Oh look I can't expand without killing biters and thus having them continually swarm my perimeter with behomoths *rolls eyes.

Military tech apparently requires lots of experimenting with explosives and ammunition, and those turrets somehow always get blown up in the process. But I still wonder why such a destructive research process doesn't produce any waste...

This explosion or this explosion? (VDA: latter is infamous Scanners clip)
Why bother with trains... at all?
LMAO! Joe asks that, too. And the rest of your questions. It's like Joseph Anderson registered as "illiousintahl"...

My first impressions of the game were of the demo. I thought that it was a pretty neat game, but didn't see me playing very much of it. Turns out I now have hundreds of hours in it.

Bought this in 2014, didnt play much. Saw it on https://www.youtube.com/user/teamdoubledragon last year and picked it up again.

Later got really deep into modding, the state of it now is incredible and I have over 550 hours on steam.

Now that i have finished my A levels, i'm stating a playthrough with 5Dims, Bobs, Angels and Yuokis mods and I have to stop every now and then to avoid serious seizures from straining my brain...

And i cant't stop thinking about how to build a more efficient gear factory... ARARARRAGRGARHGARGHARGHARGHARGHARHARG

All at the same time? Does that even work??

If you want something that makes the early game crazy stupid, get Hard Storage and Hard Crafting going at the same time.

How does everything work? But after a while you could figure that out, easy.

The graphics is kinda "old" but its fine, same for Age of Empires 2, its a good game.

I need to say its a nice game, worth it the 20€.

what? What?? WHAT??? Guards, GUARDS!!!! Throw this GIMP in the Blender.
Ne00n wrote:How does everything work? But after a while you could figure that out, easy.
There are some players, myself included, who figured that the Vanilla game is a bit too simple and gets boring after the first couple of all-nighters. The first and most ambitious of those players therefore made "overhaul packs", multiple interacting and overlapping mods increases the game's complexity by an order of magnitude or more. We're talking about four such overhaul mod packs. At the same time. What I mean by "Does that even work?" is "Does that even boot up? As in, can you get past the loading screen, into a game, and actually playing without having to hack Lua and reboot every few minutes?"

I never really thought about the graphics being similar to AoE 2. I guess they sort of are (especially because my PC can't handle HD in Factorio :(), but the comparison is also true in the fact that I've sunk many, many hours into both games.

First Thought: "Factorio"? Sounds Italian

Second: Not my type of game, I like turn-based

Third: Oh come on, with these ratings, drm-free and on linux, I should give it a chance

This was when I bought it. The first minutes playing it I was underwhelmed hacking at trees. Then slowly, with the grade of automation I put in my facination with the game grew. There was never a "click" moment, I simply was sucked in and couldn't stop anymore.

Sometime later I was convinced that I would miss the automation of factorio in any new game I would be playing from now on.

Before buying it I was wondering why everyone was talking about this game.

Looking at the screenshots I was wondering what on earth is this game about.

Reading about the game I was wondering how complicated this game is.

Buying the game I was wondering if Steam refund is going to work.

Playing the game I was wondering what time it is and it's already 4am.

Now I'm wondering if I'm going to ever get bored in this game.

My first impression?
This is so much wow! especially for a 2D game. I love 2D games in general, but this! There's so many arms and belts everywhere! Makes me feel smart.
Also, I need sooo much iron!

My first impressions are:
That any progress is incremental at best; learn to smelt, learn to automate, learn to re-start games quicker as efficient methods are practised, learn to research etc
That google imaging setups is a surefire way to realise I do not know how to play this game
That automating my research, while a proud moment, causes me to get swamped with technology and completely blurs what I should work towards next
That the hurdle which made me restart last time is usually no more than a couple of additional restarts away from mastering.

Love the little things built into the game (the shortcuts to immediately grab resources and the auto add/subtract etc) which mean there's less time spent counting and more time spent building/discovering how OCD I truly am.

As I said, I'm at the point where I can automate power and get into my Red/Green research reasonably easily (OCD issues aside) and then drown myself in available tech. Next challenge - what comes next :D
