The real goal of Factorio, is to educate all the stupid humans that polluting the planet they live on has serious repercussions.

That's not the impression i get from factorio at all. If anything it's that polluting the planet is very fun and engaging, and that trying to stop it will only lead you to be shot by laser turret with the rest of them.
In case of what the point of the game is supposed be - consider minecraft. You have blocks. You decide what to do with them. Isn't that utterly brilliant? It's like a whole box of crayons!

Excuse me? The only viable lessons are that trees are a plague requiring to be cut for usable land, and that pollution is a necessary evil to get a spaceship built in time to escape this doomed world. We're on track with both objectives, worry not.

You should try higher pollution/biter difficulty settings, sometime.
