Fluid flow update??

Did the fluid flow update mentioned in FF a while back ever get implemented? Last I saw it was delayed but incoming, but I never saw an update where the new system was added.

Is there any way we can help? There are a few of us around who have experience in computational hydrodynamics, so we may know useful approximations and limits.

Actually, there was already a LOT of help from the comunity when the devs announced they were to work on a fluid mechanics rewrite, but at the moment 0.17 arrived, they had raised a few issues so they decided to postpone the fluid physics update instead of postponing the whole 0.17.
