I don't know if they are native, but they certainly make a delicious soup.

We have insects here on Earth that look very otherworldly as well.

You are the alien that invade, exploit the natural resources, pollute and exterminate the natives!

I mean, it depends on what you mean by natives. For example, the Native Americans are said to be Native because they were the first humans to be there. However, they actually had to migrate through the landbridge between Alaska and Asia to get there, so in the eyes of nature, they wouldn't be Native as they didn't originally develop there.

It's possible that the biters originally developed from the planet or came from an asteroid or whatever. If they did enter the planet externally, to us they would be the natives as they were there before us. However, to nature on the planet they would be the settlers as they didn't originally develop there.

That is not what "native" means in this context. I appreciate that it is a coherent interpretation if you simply take the day-to-day understanding of the term, and then apply it to a scientific context -- and this is more the fault of science jargon than you -- but it is absolutely not what the term means.

Which is under debate, but that sure isn't it, because by that definition literally nothing is native.

From the perspective of the Engineer, yes, they are natives.

They were born on the planet, thus natives.
